Sail across the pond at 3rd Annual Downton Abbey-inspired the at Sharon Public Library

Relive your fav PBS program when the Friends of the Sharon Public Library host their 3rd Annual Downton Abbey-inspired tea on Sun, March 13.

(SHARON, MA) – Celebrate like the Crawleys when the 3rd Annual Downtown Abbey-Inspired Tea Party kicks off in the Cynthia B. Fox Community Room of the Sharon Public Library (SPL) on Sunday, March 13, 2016. The popular fundraiser, hosted by The Friends of the Sharon Public Library (The Friends) and based on the award-winning public television series, returns to the SPL from 3:00 –5:00 pm with fragrant teas and finger foods, entertaining video clips from prior seasons and a thought-provoking conversation about the future of the Crawleys and their servants in Edwardian England. The public is invited to attend. Period costumes are welcome. Tickets are $5 in advance; $7 at the door. They will be on sale at the SPL’s Adult Desk starting on Tuesday, February 23.

Highlighting the program will be a talk by Sharon resident Paula Hamilton on tea etiquette. A frequent speaker and educator on etiquette and life skills, Hamilton will discuss customs associated with tea drinking, such as how to stir, how long to brew and whether dunking is permitted. A realtor in Sharon with a Master’s degree in history from Harvard University, Hamilton is sure to shed some entertaining insights into this popular British convention.

Proceeds from the Downton Abbey Tea will be used to support The Friends’ work on behalf of the Library, including rental and large print books, museum passes, cultural offerings, and supplemental programming.
