Sharon Amateur Golf Earns Spot in Women's Professional Event
Sharon's Isabelle Southard qualified as an amateur to play in the Northeast Delta Dental International.
Sharon's Isabelle Southard earned a spot in a professional tournament and will now play in the Northeast Delta Dental International, which will be held at the Beaver Meadow Golf Course in Concord, N.H., July 19-21.
An amateur, Southard earned a sponsor's exemption by winning the amateur qualifying tournament at Beaver Meadow Golf Course Wednesday.
Southard, who just finished her freshman year at Boston College, fired a medalist round of an even-par 72.

The Northeast Dental International is the Symetra Tour’s only New England stop. The Symetra Tour is known as “the Road to the LPGA.” There will be 142 professional players in the tournament.
Lisanne Schmidt of Grantham, N.H. earned the second sponsor’s exemption. The 24-year-old is a 2012 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, where she played her college golf. She is now studying for her Master’s Degree in education and is coaching golf at Kimball Union

Southard was the No. 1 golfer on the B.C. team and was first Eagle to be invited to compete in the NCAA Regional. She had a 74.91 scoring average in more than 23 rounds.
At Sharon High, she was selected as a three-time Hockomock League all-star, while playing on the boys' team and the MVP as a senior. She was the girls' individual state champion for girls in the spring of 2012 and was seventh in the boys' state championship in 2011.
