Sharon Among Five Safest Cities in Massachusetts

A new study shows that Sharon is not only one of the safest towns in the state.

According to website SafeWise, Sharon is the the fifth safest city in Massachusetts. Only Wayland, Norfolk, Clinton, and Duxbury rank higher.

The website says of Sharon, “iAs part of the original Massachusetts Bay Colony, Sharon is a strong community that has prevailed for nearly 400 years. To make sure this safe city prospers for another 400, the city recently implemented the CodeRED Emergency Notification System to better disseminate emergency messages and keep citizens in the know when it comes to personal safety.”

Sharon, with a population of 17,935, is known for having an extremely low crime rate. According to FBI statistics, Sharon has 0.05 violent crimes per 1,000 people and only 4.23 property crimes per 1,000.
