Sharon Education Foundation Extends Lee Flaxer Award Nominations Through June 19

Nominations for award honoring former Heights Elementary Principal Lee Flaxer extended to Monday, June 19th

The Sharon Education Foundation (SEF) today announced that nominations for the 2017 Lee Flaxer Award have been extended through Monday, June 19th 2017 at 5:00 p.m. This award is given to a teacher or individual who has made a significant impact on the lives of children through dedication and personal involvement and is open to qualified individuals who play an important role in education either within the Sharon schools or within the town generally.

Previous winners demonstrated the spirit of Lee Flaxer, who served as principal of Heights Elementary School for many years. She was an outstanding leader who believed that compassion and caring were essential to a positive learning atmosphere.

Past recipients included Roland James, John Brande, Meg Verret, Lisa Fireman, Joan Wernick, Bill Fish, Timothy Vigorito, Michael Hocking, Al and Judy Lipsky, Jane Levine and Craig Szczepanski.

The winner will be announced before the end of the school year and a celebration reception will be held in early fall.
