Sharon Education Foundation Hosts "Back to the Prom" on October 21st

Fundraiser celebrates SEF's 15-year anniversary; welcomes Dr. Victoria Greer to SPS

The Sharon Education Foundation (SEF) invites parents and supporters of Sharon Public Schools to relive their high school prom days on Saturday, October 21st from 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. at the Sharon High School Gymnasium for its “Back to the Prom” fundraiser. The evening celebrates SEF’s 15-year anniversary and welcomes new Superintendent of Schools Dr. Victoria Greer to Sharon.

The festivities include: food catered by The Main Course of Canton, music by Sound Investments featuring chart toppers of the 1980’s and 1990’s, and a silent auction with must-have items including a gourmet gift basket from The Main Course, a Bill Belichick autographed football, spa and dining gift certificates, a Malcolm Butler autographed football and more! There will also be an opportunity to fund-a-grant for the 2018-2019 school year. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here or by visiting www.sharoneducationfoundation.org

Since 2011, SEF has awarded more than $150,000 to Sharon Public Schools for a variety of educational and community programs not included in the school or town budget. Highlights of previous grants include: Ball Chairs, Morning Math Wizards, Family STEM Night, Music Mentors, Drug and Alcohol Prevention programs, LEGO robotics, a 3D printer purchase, recycling plant field trips, the Don’t Text and Drive Campaign and several anti-bullying initiatives.

“Last year we talked about launching a new fundraiser for SEF’s 15-year anniversary that would engage parents and supporters of SEF in a creative and fun way, and everyone loved the prom idea,” said Andrew Amrhein, President of SEF. “The response we’ve received so far has been very encouraging, and we look forward to seeing everyone on October 21st.”

Tickets are limited to 300 people first come, first served and SEF expects the event to be sold out so buy your tickets early!

SEF enhances, enriches and supports public education in Sharon by funding educational, recreational and community programs that deliver innovation and excitement into the classroom and the town. SEF funds a broad range of projects, including those that focus on traditional academic subjects, visual and performing arts, promotion of multi-cultural and community learning experiences and professional development.
