Sharon Flag Day U.S. Flag Retirement Ceremony
In observance of Flag Day, the Sharon Department of Veteran Services is holding a U.S. flag retirement ceremony.
SHARON, MA — Flag Day is Friday, June 14, and is the official celebration of the adoption of the United States flag on June 14, 1777, by the Second Continental Congress during the Revolutionary War. Sharon's Department of Veteran Services will celebrate Flag Day at noon on Saturday, June 15 with a U.S. flag retirement ceremony. The ceremony will be held at Sharon American Legion Post, located at 752 South Main Street.
According to U.S. flag code, when a flag becomes tattered, worn, or is any condition where it can no longer be flown with pride, the flag isn't to be thrown in the trash, but retired with a proper ceremony. The public is welcome to bring their flags for proper retirement.
