Sharon July 4 Group Appeals for Fireworks Funding

Donations 'have not kept pace' with the rising cost.

Sharon Independence Day organizers are appealing for more donations for fireworks for this year's festivities, less than two months away.

The Sharon Friends of the Fourth Committee's annual mailing went out recently, and the group had a table outside Sharon's annual town meeting on Monday and Tuesday night.

"Times are tight - the cost of fireworks has been increasing while our total donations have not kept pace," the mailing says.

"We thank those who have donated in prior years, and ask those who have not donated in the past to reconsider.

"In recent years, less than 10 percent of Sharon's families have not responded to this annual mailing. The quality of the fireworks, entertainment and activities are fully dependent on your donations."
