Jeffrey Bickoff has been found guilty of striking and killing a 20-year-old Sharon resident.

From the Norfolk DA’s Office:

A 45-year old Sharon man has been found guilty of Motor Vehicle Homicide by negligent operation and reckless assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (to wit: motor vehicle) in the June 15, 2014 crash that left a young Sharon woman dead, according to Norfolk District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey.

Haley Cremer, 20, was out for a jog in her neighborhood when Jeffrey Bickoff struck her with his white SUV in the area of Hampton and Dogwood Roads in Sharon, causing her to travel more than 85 feet through the air to her death. Bickoff’s license had recently been suspended.

The Norfolk Superior Court jury heard closing arguments yesterday, July 21, 2015, and deliberated for two hours following closings and an additional 5 hours today before reaching their unanimous verdicts.

In the wake of the crime, Haley’s parents worked with Massachusetts legislators, including Sharon Representative Louis L. Kafka, to change state law to mandate that the Registry of Motor Vehicles notify municipal police departments when their residents have licenses suspended or revoked by the RMV.

“The Cremers are brave, lovely people. Their daughter was an exceptional young woman. Her death was a tremendous loss to the entire community. We are very pleased that this jury has held accountable the man who took her life,” District Attorney Morrissey said.

The case was tried by Assistant District Attorney Michael Thaler, assisted by Victim/Witness Advocate Lynne Cipullo.

Bickoff will be sentenced at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, July 31 in the Norfolk Superior Court.
