Sharon Man Gets 2 1/2 Years for Killing Woman with Vehicle

Jeffrey Bickoff, 45, was sentenced in Norfolk Superior Court Friday afternoon.

A Sharon man will reside in a state jail after being found guilty of vehicular homicide.

Jeffrey Bickoff, 45, was sentenced in Norfolk Superior Court to 2 1/2 years in the a house of correction, followed by 3 years of probation. He is subject to a mandatory license loss of 15 years according to the Norfolk District Attorney’s office.

Last week, Bickoff was found guilty of killing a 20-year-old woman while driving near Hampton and Dogwood roads in 2014.

Haley Cremer was struck by an SUV driven by Bickoff while she was jogging. The impact of the fatal hit caused Cremer to travel over 85 feet. Bickoff was driving with a recently suspended license.

During the proceedings that lasted roughly 90 minutes Friday afternoon, Judge Robert C. Cosgrove heard victim impact statements from the parents and younger sister of Haley Cremer. He also heard a statement from the convicted driver.

Prosecutors for the state requested a sentence of 5 to 7 years in jail while defense attorney Paul Freitas requested 1 year of home confinement and 3 years probation.
