Sharon Man Wanted for Child Rape in Police Custody

SHARON, MA — A man wanted on multiple child rape charges is now in police custody.

Erik Silva of Sharon turned himself into police Monday. He was arraigned in Stoughton District Court on charges of rape of a child with force, rape of a child with a 10-year age difference, and indecent assault and battery on a person 14 or old. He was ordered held on $50,000 bail, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney's office.

On Aug. 8, the Sharon Police Department announced that they had secured an arrest warrant for Silva. Police say he has ties to the Norwood area and was potentially attempting to flee the country.

He is due back in court on Sept. 13
