Town to Read Lehane Novel This Spring.

It's officially a Given that Sharon will read together again this spring.

The One Book, One Town: Sharon Reads Together Committee has chosen "The Given Day: A Novel" by Dennis Lehane for this year's fifth community read.

The Sharon Public Library will have copies available for purchase before the holidays, Library Director and committee co-chair Barbra Nadler said.

Publisher HarperCollins describes the book as "the story of two families—one black, one white—swept up in a maelstrom of revolutionaries and anarchists, immigrants and ward bosses, Brahmins and ordinary citizens, all engaged in a battle for survival and power."

"Set in Boston at the end of the First World War, New York Times bestselling author Dennis Lehane's long-awaited eighth novel unflinchingly captures the political and social unrest of a nation caught at the crossroads between past and future," according to HarperCollins' website.

Committee Co-Chair Lisa Delaney said that "this is a fascinating book, and it has so many incredible themes."

"Our goal is to have a community building experience or a shared reading experience," she said.
