SHS Seeded Seventh, Will Host First Soccer Playoff Game Since 2011
The Sharon boys' varsity soccer team will host Pembroke on Sunday, November 6 at 2pm
Sharon High School's boys soccer program is improving steadily under third-year coach Bryan Kelly.
The Eagles were 7-7-4 in 2014, barely qualifying for the Division 2 South tournament as the 18th seed. In Kelly's second year, the Eagles improved to 10-7-1 and the 13th seed. This year, despite graduating 19 seniors and starting off 0-2-1, the Eagles recovered to go 11-3-4 and win the Hockomock League's Davenport division.
The Eagles will host tenth-seeded Pembroke at 2pm on Sunday, and are counting on a big home crowd to propel them to the next round. The last home tournament game at SHS was the 2011 play-in game between #15 Sharon and #18 Plymouth North. And the last tournament victories for SHS were way back in 2007, when the tenth-seeded Eagles advanced all the way to the state final.

In recent years, Sharon has had success in spring soccer. The Sharon Soccer Association's under-16 team won the state tournament (MTOC) in 2015, and that team is the core of the current varsity roster. But Kelly has gotten strong contributions from all four grades, and the team has improved as the players got acquainted with each other and with his numerous formations.
