Stoughton Robbery Suspect Located in Sharon

William Hagerty was arrested and charged with robbing the Stoughton Webster Bank.

Less than 24 hours after a robbery at a local bank, police in Stoughton have made an arrest.

William Hagerty, 50, Stoughton was charged with robbing Webster Bank on Washington Street in Stoughton, according to the Stoughton Police Department.

Police said public assistance played a large role in the arrest. After surveillance photos showing Hagerty at the bank were shared on social media, the department received many tips identifying Hagerty as the suspect.

A booking photo of Hagerty from an arrest in early January also assisted police in identifying the suspect. Unlike in the surveillance photos, Hagerty was clean shaven when he was arrested.

Stoughton police Detective Sgt. Robert Welch told the Enterprise that they learned Hagerty had ties to a Sharon home, where he was located by police Thursday.
