A man wanted for a hit and run in Sharon has turned himself in.
Stephen J. Gillis, 36, recently turned himself in at Stoughton District Court for an outstanding warrant for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident after causing personal injury, according to the Sharon Police Department.
At approximately 6 p.m. on Sept. 12, a vehicle with a 31-year-old pregnant female, a male, and a young child were sideswiped after another vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed crossed the double yellow line. Despite the hit and losing a tire, the other vehicle continued to travel, turning down a side street and fleeing after hailing down a passing vehicle.

An investigation led to police identifying Gillis as the operator of the other vehicle. He also turned himself in at Cambridge District Court on a warrant for several violent felonies.
Police credit the result to an aggressive follow-up, surveillance, and an ongoing investigation.
