Three on Sharon PD Promoted

Congrats to these three officers.

The Sharon Police Department celebrate, with a ceremony, the promotion of three officers on its squad. The promotions will take effect on June 1. 

As posted on its Facebook page: 

Lieutenant Tilden Kaufman will be promoted to Deputy Chief. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Law Enforcement Degree from Western New England College and a Master of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. He has been employed by the Sharon Police Department since 1986, promoted to Sergeant in 1993 and Lieutenant in 1996, serving as the Support Services Commander. He is the Town of Sharon’s E911 Municipal Coordinator/ liaison to the state. He has also served as the Patrol Division Commander. He has received considerable training in a variety of areas, including emergency management and homeland security issues. In his role as Deputy Chief he will have direct oversight of the Patrol Division, and coordinate combined investigative, homeland security and emergency management initiatives within the department and outside agencies. Lieutenant Kaufman was born and raised in Sharon. He is married with two children ages 24 and 20. 

Sergeant Donald Brewer will be promoted to Lieutenant. He has been employed by the Sharon Police Department since 2006 and has been a Sergeant since 2010. Lieutenant Brewer will be assigned as the Division Commander. He presently resides in Sharon with his wife and children. 

Officer Jeffrey Penders will be promoted to Sergeant. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Sociology from the University of Massachusetts in Boston (1992) and a Masters Degree in Law and Justice from Western New England College (2003). He has been employed with the town since 1995 starting as a part time dispatcher and then a full-time dispatcher. He began his career as an officer in 2001 and has received two Chief’s Achievement Awards as well as a Meritorious Service Award. He has been a member of the METRO-LEC Regional Response Team since 2004. He is married with three daughters. 

A swearing in ceremony for the above noted promotions will take place at the Sharon Police and Fire Museum (School Street) on May 28, 2014 at 7 p.m. The public is invited to attend.
