Timeline Proposed to Find New Treasurer

Town administrator Frederic Turkington hopes to have the position filled by October.

A timeline to find and hire a new town treasure-collector has been proposed by new town administrator Frederic Turkington.

In one of his first projects in Sharon, Turkington said he is hoping to fill in the position, which is currently open.

“It’s been identify in the last several town audits as an area that needs some professionalization,” Turkington told the selectmen on Aug. 19.

Turkington, along with residents Tom Quinn, Chuck Goodman, Herb Gould, David Milowe, Gloria Rose and finance director Cindy Doherty will make up the search committee for the position.

Advertising for the position was expected to start last week with the town looking at the description for treasures of other communities in the area.

Four to seven candidates are expected to be brought for interviews with the screening committees with two to three finalists. The final decision on who to hire will be given to Doherty.

Turkington said he is aiming to be able to present a new treasure to the selectmen by Oct. 14 with the person to start working in early November.

The job description and pay for the position will head to the personnel board by Sept. 11 for approval.
