Town meeting tonight - PLEASE VOTE!!!

Please plan to attend the Town meeting tonight and vote to approve the addition of new field in town.

These proposals will benefit all of the children of Sharon. Please join us in voting in favor of Article 6 and Article 7 at theSharon Town Meeting to be held on Monday, May 2, 2016 at 7:00 PM at the high school auditorium.

Athletic fields for the schools and youth sports associations are overcrowded and suffer from poor maintenance. The last new fields in Sharon were built in the early 1990’s at Gavins Pond at a time when our population was approximately 15,500. In 2010 thepopulation grew to 17,600 and is currently around 18,000 and expected to grow to over 19,000 by 2030.

A New Field Committee was formed over two years ago and found that the fields were overcrowded and overused. A four year plan is being proposed to add a new field and renovate poorly maintained fields. The first phase includes a new field at an existing site and renovation of the Middle School athletic fields.

Please come to Town Meeting on Monday, May 2 to vote for Article 6 and Article 7 that will start the process of addressing Sharon’s field space requirements for all of the children of Sharon, from Pre-K through seniors in high school.
