Worcester Man Arrested After Car Chase, Asked Police to Shoot Him
Stephen Carkin, 28, was arrested after a chase through Foxborough and Sharon.

A Worcester man was taken into custody Wednesday night after a high-speed chase in Foxborough and Sharon.
Stephen Carkin, 28, and charged with having an outstanding default warrant, operating with a license suspended, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, and assault with a deadly weapon according to the Sun Chronicle. He was arraigned Thursday in Wrentham District Court.
Around 11 p.m. Wednesday, Carkin was pulled over for speeding on Mechanic Street. When Patrolman James Headd asked for his name and license, Carkin allegedly gave a fake name and claimed that he did not have his license. Headd knew the name given, according to Police Chief Ed O’Leary and asked Carkin to turn off his vehicle.

Carkin instead drove away, reaching about 100 mph before losing control of his car near the Sharon Shaw’s on South Main Street and running into the woods. He was found after a two-hour search near a shed. Sharon Police said Carkin attempted to commit suicide by police, yelling at officers to shoot him.
The suspect was taken into custody after he was subdued with a Taser gun.
