Worker at Sharon Group Home Charged With Abusing Resident

SHARON, MA — A Stoughton woman faces accusations that she assaulted a person at the group home she worked at.
Patricia Afriyie-Yeboah, 32, was arraigned Thursday in Stoughton District Court on charges of assault and battery with a shower curtain pole and assault and battery on a disabled person, according to the Sharon Police Department.
Around midday on April 19, police in Sharon received a report of a disabled person being abused at a group home in Sharon for people with developmental disabilities. Police learned that the incident occurred on April 18, and was being reported to police by staff members. Police say a 22-year-old resident at the group home was assaulted by a staff member identified as Afriyie-Yeboah. The resident did not sustain any serious injuries, police said.

Upon learning of the incident, the group home immediately suspended the staff member. Management at the group home is cooperating with police.
Police have not released the name of the group home where the alleged incident took place.

Afriyie-Yeboah is due back in court on May 16.
