SHREWSBURY, MA — The 2016-2017 school year is almost here, and while students may be dreading it, the time has come to make preparations for the upcoming school year.

Students are due back in Shrewsbury schools on Tuesday, Aug. 30, for all grades. The return is immediately followed by another break, with no school Friday, Sept. 2, or Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day). Here are ten other dates that are of not for Shrewsbury students.

- Aug. 24: freshman orientation for SHS
- Aug. 29: information session for new middle school students
- Aug. 31: school picture day, SHS
- Oct. 7: no school for students

- Nov. 11: no school, Veterans' Day
- Dec. 8: early release day
