SHREWSBURY, MA — For the second consecutive day, a large police presence was reported at Jordan Pond on Thursday.
Officials have not released details about the activity, but it is connected to an ongoing homicide investigation dating back to August 2025. While authorities have not confirmed a direct link, the investigation may be related to the fatal shooting of a Shrewsbury father near the pond last summer.
On Aug. 28, 2025, Kevin Doherty, 56, had just dropped off his 6-year-old son at Calvin Coolidge Elementary School when he encountered Snehal Srivastava, 26, who was spray-painting a bridge near Jordan Pond, according to officials. An altercation followed.
Previous coverage:
Doherty called police, and gunshots were heard during the 911 call, authorities said. Responding officers found Doherty suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
Srivastava fled the scene but was later arrested at a nearby home, officials said.
Srivastava has since been indicted by a Worcester County grand jury on charges including murder and witness intimidation, according to the Telegram & Gazette. Srivastava is currently being held without bail as he awaits trial.
Police have not said how Thursday’s activity may advance the case, and the investigation remains ongoing.
