“I’m deeply honored by the trust the people of Shrewsbury have placed in me,” Sharma told Patch on Friday. “This election was never about one person, it was about residents coming together and asking for thoughtful leadership, accountability, and a stronger vision for our town’s future. I look forward to working hard every day to serve all residents and help move Shrewsbury forward in a positive and collaborative way.”

Sharma announced his candidacy in early March and said that overdevelopment was one of the key issues motivating his campaign.

A Shrewsbury resident for more than 25 years, Sharma has previously served on the Spirit of Shrewsbury Committee and the town’s 300th Anniversary Committee. He has also volunteered with the Rotary Club and other community initiatives.

Sharma has served as a Town Meeting member and said he regularly attends public meetings to advocate for residents’ concerns.

Growing up in a poor farming community without basic amenities, Sharma said hard work became second nature early in life. He said those experiences shaped his dedication, gratitude, and commitment to giving back to the community.

Sharma holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and a master’s degree in business administration. He currently works as an IT specialist at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington.
