SHREWSBURY, MA — A water main break on Route 9 shut off water service Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning along a busy Shrewsbury corridor, affecting nearby homes and businesses.
The town’s Department of Public Works said water service was shut off from Tennis Drive to Walnut Street after 5 p.m. Tuesday due to the break. The break was resolved by 4 a.m. Wednesday, Sabrina Collins, a specialist with the town’s Department of Public Works, told Patch.
The interruption was tied to ongoing work on the water main along Route 9, where the Shrewsbury Water and Sewer Division was on site Tuesday addressing the issue.
Town officials said customers in the area may have experienced reduced water pressure and discolored water during the disruption. Residents and businesses who notice discolored water or low pressure after service is restored are advised to run cold water from an outside or downstairs faucet.
“We apologize for any and all inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue emergency repairs,” the Department of Public Works said in a statement Tuesday.
Anyone with questions should contact the Department of Public Works at (508) 841-8502 or watersewer@shrewsburyma.gov.
