Shrewsbury Police Honor Lifesaving Efforts, Years Of Service At Awards Ceremony

SHREWSBURY, MA — The Shrewsbury Police Department used its third annual Awards Night to recognize the officers, dispatchers and civilians whose work stood out over the past year.

The ceremony on Thursday honored recipients for public service, lifesaving efforts, police excellence, meritorious service and years of service. Chief Kevin Anderson thanked those recognized and said, "Thank you all for what you do every day."

Police Excellence Awards

Police Excellence Awards went to Detective Chad Chysna, Detective Paul Brown, Officer Matthew Mattero, Officer Jordan Carroll, Officer Ahmed Kafel, Officer Conor Delaney and Detective Christopher Vieira.

Homicide Incident Awards

The department also recognized a homicide incident response with several awards. Dispatcher Olivia Mayotte received a Civilian Public Service Award. Dispatchers David Lawson and Karen Doherty received a Civilian Distinguished Service Award. A Distinguished Action Award went to Sgt. Brian Sklut, Sgt. Mark Sklut, Sgt. David Faucher, Officer Dillon Zona, Officer Dana Bartosik, Officer Steven Piselli, Officer Matthew Mattero, Officer Kevin Warwick and Officer Deven O'Brien.

Lifesaving And Meritorious Service Awards

Lifesaving Awards went to Sgt. David Faucher and Sgt. Christopher Abascia. Meritorious Service Awards went to Officer Gary Belanger and Officer Mark Hester.

Public Service Awards

Public Service Awards went to former ACO Keith Elmes, Susan Paquette, Cynthia Fahey, Lisa Quigley, Kyra Lohnes and Danielle Pearson.

Following a police headquarters crash, the department also gave Public Service Awards to Steve McKinstry, Alexander Coldwell and Rossana Malaver. Dispatchers Karen Doherty, Nicole Corsi, Brendan Dowd and Olivia Mayotte were also recognized in connection with that incident. Dispatchers Caitlin Mroczek, David Lawson and Christopher DaSilva received a Civilian Distinguished Service Award tied to the crash.

Years Of Service Awards

Years of Service Awards went to Sgt. Ryan Bradley, Officer Alicia Sereti and Dispatcher David Lawson for 10 years, Lt. Jason Palmatier and Sgt. Larry Napolitano for 20 years and Officer Daniel Wnek for 30 years.

Police Service Awards

Police Service Awards went to Officer Timothy Charland, Officer Deven O'Brien, Sgt. David Faucher and Detective Chad Chysna.

The department also thanked Napoli's Deli for catering the event and Marc Serra of Shrewsbury Media Connection for filming the ceremony, which the department said will be available to watch at a later date.

At the ceremony, opening and closing remarks were given by Sgt. Larry Napolitano, the National Anthem was sung by Shrewsbury High School first-year student Saina Mukumdar, and a welcome statement was given by Chief Anderson.

Shrewsbury police also thanked Napoli's Deli for catering the event and Marc Serra of Shrewsbury Media Connection for filming the ceremony, which the department said will be available to watch at a later date.
