SHREWSBURY, MA — Drivers should expect intermittent one-lane traffic on Maple Avenue and Tatum Road this week as sewer project work continues.
The lane reductions are scheduled during the week of June 8 along Maple Avenue from the Hutchins Street intersection to just before Route 9, with Tatum Road also affected, according to a town notice. The town said the work may cause delays, including during the Monday commute.
The entire length of Maple Avenue will not be reduced to one lane at the same time. Instead, sections of the road will be reduced to one lane as crews move along the work area during the week, according to the town.
The work is part of the Maple Avenue Sewer Force Main Project. Contractor Aqua Line Utility is completing final connections before milling and overlay work begins on Maple Avenue and Tatum Road, according to the town.
The broader Maple Avenue and Rolfe Avenue sewer project includes replacing aging wastewater pump-station force mains and upgrading pump stations to reduce the risk of sewer backups and overflows, according to the town project page.
Drivers are being asked to use caution in the work zone and follow posted signs and directions from construction crews.
