Mizikar also confirmed the presence of a comedian during an event for Public Works Week and said the town reviewed the performance, concluding that certain content did not meet the town’s workplace norms and standards.

DPW staff attended an off-site specialized training on May 20 in recognition of National Public Works Week, according to a town notice. No DPW staff were available at Town Hall during regular business hours that day.

The Telegram and Gazette reported that comedian Kristy Kielbasinski, who is also a member of the Grafton School Committee, performed at the event on May 20. Mizikar wrote in an email to DPW staff that the performance included remarks that were inappropriate for the workplace, according to the news outlet.

National Public Works Week ran from May 17 to May 23 in 2026, according to the American Public Works Association, which sponsors the annual observance.

McInerney was identified as Shrewsbury’s DPW director in Finance Committee minutes from March 2026. In 2025, the town minutes stated that McInerney had been with the town since October 2024.
