SHREWSBURY, MA — Water service has been restored after a water main break in Shrewsbury on Monday shut off water to a neighborhood for several hours.
Shrewsbury officials said a water main broke in the area of Beacon and Marlboro Streets Monday morning. Crews from the town's Water and Sewer Division were on-site since 8:30 a.m. to address the issue.
Water was off in the area near Beacon and Marlboro Streets for at least six hours while crews made repairs. The issue was resolved, and water service was restored, as of Tuesday morning.
Shrewsbury officials said residents in the area may have experienced discolored water or lower temperatures once service was restored. Officials said running cold water in an outside or downstairs faucet could help with those issues.
"We apologize for any and all inconvenience, and we appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue emergency repairs," Shrewsbury officials wrote in the Monday announcement.
Anyone with questions should contact the Department of Public Works at (508) 841-8502 or watersewer@shrewsburyma.gov.
