SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury's annual fall festival is expected to return this weekend.
The Spirit of Shrewsbury Fall Festival will bring two days of community events after last weekend's nor'easter canceled its original date. The festival and expo will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at Oak Middle School, 45 Oak St., followed by a parade at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4
More than 50 vendors, crafters, businesses, civic groups, religious groups and educational organizations are expected at Saturday's outdoor festival, according to the association. Food trucks will be available throughout the day.
Scheduled activities include Shrewsbury High School robotics demonstrations and Girl Scout face-painting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., a performance by Fran the Magic Man at 11 a.m., a foam party at 11:30 a.m., a donut-eating contest at 12:15 p.m. and a dog parade at 1 p.m. The festival will also include animal activities and a STEM table.
Veterans may receive a free lunch ticket at the veterans tent, organizers said. Dogs participating in the parade must be leashed, well-behaved and accompanied by an adult.
Sunday's Spirit of Shrewsbury parade will begin at the corner of Maple Avenue and Wesleyan Street, then proceed south on Maple Avenue. The procession is expected to feature marching bands, dancers, school representatives, sports teams and vintage vehicles.
