SHREWSBURY, MA — A favorite Shrewsbury eatery has officially served its final customers after more than a decade in business.
Jimmy's Tavern and Grill closed on Sunday, the restaurant announced on social media. The casual American restaurant and sports bar operated at 50 Boston Tpke. in the White City Shopping Center for 15 years.
"We are deeply grateful for your years of support and patronage," the restaurant said. "Thank you for being such a special part of our story."
The restaurant opened in 2011 in a building previously occupied by Bugaboo Creek, according to the Telegram & Gazette. Employees had confirmed the planned closing to the newspaper in September.
Brothers Mark, James and Nikiforis Miminos opened Jimmy's as part of American Food Holding Corporation, the newspaper reported. Antonios Karapatsas took over the company in 2017, assuming ownership of six restaurants, including Jimmy's and Jimmy's Steer House locations in Arlington and Saugus.
The restaurant encouraged customers to visit its other locations. Jimmy's Steer House operates at 1111 Massachusetts Ave. in Arlington.
The announcement did not explain why the Shrewsbury location is closing.
