SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury's housing market gained momentum in September, recording a sharp increase in completed sales despite lower prices.
The town recorded 29 closed sales, up 93.3 percent from September 2025, while the median sales price fell 7.6 percent to $670,000. The number of homes for sale rose 23.1 percent to 48, according to new data from the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS.
The figures marked a turnaround from August, when Shrewsbury recorded 26 sales, down 10.3 percent year over year. The town's August median sales price was $587,500 and 50 homes were listed for sale.
Statewide, 3,714 single-family homes were sold in September, up 4.8 percent from a year earlier. The statewide median price rose 2.4 percent to $670,000.
Condominium sales moved in the opposite direction across Massachusetts. Closed sales fell 6.4 percent to 1,388 while the median condominium price remained unchanged at $525,000.
New listings increased statewide for both property types, rising 7.6 percent for single-family homes and 6 percent for condominiums, according to the association.
Kristen Keegan, the association's 2026 president, said the September data showed a housing market moving in two directions, with continued demand for single-family homes and a pullback in condominium activity.
