Shrewsbury Home Sales, Prices Fell In August As Inventory Rose

Shrewsbury's housing market slowed in August as buyers had more homes to choose from.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury’s housing market slowed in August as buyers had more homes to choose from.

The town recorded 26 closed sales, down 10.3 percent from August 2025, while the median sales price fell 10.3 percent to $587,500. The number of homes for sale rose 28.2 percent to 50, according to housing data released Tuesday from the Massachusetts Association of REALTORS.

The local figures differed from statewide trends. Massachusetts recorded 4,052 single-family home sales in August, down 0.2 percent year over year, while the median price rose 2.2 percent to $695,000, according to the MAR.

Statewide condominium sales dropped 6.1 percent to 1,554 while the median condominium price increased 3.7 percent to $565,000, the association reported.

“The continued increase in new listings is encouraging and gives buyers more options,” said Kristen Keegan, MAR's 2026 president. “The market activity we’re seeing shows that buyers remain engaged and ready to act when the right home comes on the market at the right price. As we head into the fall market, I expect increased inventory and returning buyers to continue driving strong activity and more pending sales.”
