Are You Being Bullied At Work?

Isn't it commonsense to treat each other with respect at all times? I guess not.

The Healthy Workplace Bill is being proposed to prevent and address employees being mistreated by individual in the workplace.

The bill defines Workplace Bullying as repeated, health-harming mistreatment of one or more persons by one or more perpetrators that takes one or more of the following forms:

  • Verbal abuse
  • Offensive conduct/behaviors (including nonverbal) which are threatening, humiliating or intimidating
  • Work interference – sabotage – which prevents work from getting done

If the bill is passed, it will require employers to investigate and to take action against those individuals who are found responsible in the workplace. Employees will have the option to sue those who bully them at work as well as the employer for not handling this matter.
