FLASH Fundraiser 6/3- 6/6 to Purchase Interactive Technology for Paton School 3rd and 4th Grade Classrooms

An Open Note to the Greater Shrewsbury Community:

We recently learned that one classroom in grades 3 and 4 with be
without an interactive whiteboard next school year.   This means that
approximately 30 students out of 160 will not have access to same educational
experience as their peers.   The Paton PTO wants to help us ensure
all of our third and fourth graders have an interactive whiteboard in their
classroom to help better engage them, enrich their educational experience and
better prepare them for the challenges of advanced learning that take place in
the middle schools and beyond.

To meet this immediate need, the Paton PTO launched a FLASH FUNDRAISER
today to help raise $4,000 needed to install the interactive technology.  Together we can help make this happen for Paton. We need your help NOW!  The FLASH FUNDRAISER starts today and ends Thursday night, June 6^th at the Paton Family picnic.

Please help us purchase ONE interactive whiteboard to ensure that all Paton students who will pass through grades 3 and 4 have access to this important educational tool. 

This technology is a key component in engaging students in large learning environments.  In fact,  incoming Paton third graders will likely have 30 children in a class, while fourth grade classes could be high as 24/25 next school year. 

Interactive whiteboards help educators:

• Drastically increase student engagement
• Gain instant access to videos,
  demonstrations, photographs to enhance lessons
• Leverage interactive manipulatives to
  demonstrate mathematical processes
• Expose students to presentation development
  using PowerPoint, Keynote, iMovie, and other tools on a large screen
• Mirror with iPads allows work being done on
  the iPad to be displayed for all to see
• Access to interactive lessons on Time for
  Kids, Scholastic News, and National Geographic
• Conduct important all class instruction
  such as “a whole class write as a model” on the whiteboard, and then print the
  sample for each child for independent use
• Harness the power of the screen to engage
  kids! They love to use the pen and manipulate the projector.

Paton NEEDS YOUR HELP.  Here ‘s how to help make the FLASH FUNDRAISER successful:

1.       HELP US SPREAD THE WORD.  Please
forward this email to friends, family and neighbors.  Post on Facebook,
Tweet the need…the sky’s the limit.  We need participation beyond our
Paton hallways for success.

2.       Make a donation to the Paton PTO via check
(payable Paton PTO) or donate online at www.patonpto.org. 
Ask your employer if they will match your gift.  Many organizations do.

3.       Ask grandparents,
aunts, uncles, cousins, neighbors, friends to help us with a
donation.   We don’t sell pies, gift wrap and other product
fundraisers – now is the chance to help!  Also, 100 percent of every
donation to the FLASH FUNDRAISER will be used to purchase interactive
whiteboard technology.  We know our friends and family have a vested
interest in our children’s education, so please give them a chance to
participate too!
