Elsie Kaye Artisan Gifts & Flamework Studio

Elsie Kaye Gift Shop &amp; Artisan Studio In 2009, on a whim, Holly Kenny took a flameworking class and learned to make glass beads. This sparked a love of glass art and led to the launch her business, Elsie Kaye Gift Shop and Art Studio in downtown Westborough. Holly currently teaches flameworking and metalworking at her studio and is on the faculty at the New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. Holly loves the fluidity and movement of glass and enjoys incorporating metals, enamels and other elements that can change the texture and appearance of the glass. As a result, much of her work takes on an abstract, organic feel. Her work, under the name Elsie Kaye Glassworks, can be found at more than 50 boutiques and galleries across the country. Holly is passionate about promoting emerging local artists by selling their work at her retail shop, as well as helping to foster connections with new and existing businesses in the local area. She is an active member of her community, where she has lived with her husband and two children since 2006.

The Special Needs Program is sponsoring it's Annual Special 5K Road Race and 1 Mile Fun Run on this Saturday, July 23 from Floral Street School. The race proceeds benefit the special needs program which provides social activities and sports training for Special Olympics teams. The program is run by volunteers and funded by donations and fundraisers such as this one. The first 100 5K racers registered will be elegible for a free race t-shirt. You can register in person at Parks &amp; Recreation Office at 100 Maple Ave or <a href="https://regrec.shrewsbury-ma.gov" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">online</a> at by July 21st. Day of race registrations will be accepted at 7:30 a.m. The fun run...great for families to participate in together will start at 8:30 a.m. The 5k will start at 9 a.m. For road race map and all the details visit our <a href="http://www.shrewsbury-ma.gov/parkrec" rel="noopener nofollow" target="_blank">website</a>.
