Lottery for Learning Tickets Available

Each month, beginning in November 2012 and ending in June 2013, eight tickets are pulled from the ticket box at Coolidge Elementary School by our own students.

Coolidge Elementary School in Shrewsbury is currently running an exciting fundraiser called the Lottery for Learning. Unlike selling pies, cookie dough and other trinkets that help you gain weight or take up space in your homes, this fundraiser is a cash lottery program, and who doesn't like winning cash?

So, how does it work?

Each month, beginning in November 2012 and ending in June 2013, eight tickets are pulled from the ticket box at Coolidge Elementary School by our own students. Those eight tickets are the winners for that month, every month. Simple!

So, what do they win?

Cash! The first prize each month is $200. The second prize each month is $10.  The third prize each month is $40. And finally, the fourth through eighth prizes each month are $20. Then, winning tickets even go back into the ticket box so you always have a chance to win. You almost can't lose.

So, how do you get a ticket?

Tickets are $20 each. They are available for purchase by filling in the Lottery for Learning Fundraiser form and delivering it, with payment, to the Coolidge Elementary School located at 1 Florence St. Cash or checks are accepted and should be made payable to the Coolidge PTO.

But you may be asking, how does this fundraiser help Coolidge Elementary School?

More than 30 percent of students in the Coolidge Elementary School district are eligible for reduced lunch. This means that now, more than ever, our school needs the support of the entire community of Shrewsbury. This program raises much needed funds for all of our students educational enrichment programs. If you don't know what enrichment means, it's basically anything that the school budget doesn't pay for. For our students, this means field trips, reading incentive programs, author visits, playgrounds and playground maintenance, Field Day, and growing more important every day...technology.

We are working hard to sell a total of 400 tickets and are over half way there, but with your help, we can achieve our goal!
