The Carnival is Coming (Back) to the Library!
You don't want to miss this fun family event!

For the third year in a row, the Friends of the Shrewsbury Public Library are sponsoring what has become one of the most popular events for families in town – the Summer Reading Kickoff Carnival held at the Library. The event will be on Wednesday, June 20th, from 2:30PM-7:30PM and provide fun and unique events for every age and interest. The event is rain or shine, as most of the events will be held indoors.
Here is the final event schedule:

4PM-6PM: Facepainting and Henna Art
5PM-5:30PM: Silver Moon Gypsies Belly Dancing Show

In addition to those programs, there will be ongoing game booths (closing at 7PM), a snack station (closing when snacks run out), and a special visit from Finz, the mascot of the Worcester Sharks. There will also be a few other surprises! A map of where each event is held will be at the library the day of the event.
All of the attractions are free, including the tickets needed to play games and get snacks. The way to get the free tickets is to sign up in the free Summer Reading Program. There are programs for every age level (adults, teens, and children), and the official prize calendars will be on hand so you can learn how to win one of many great donated prizes simply by reading a good book this summer. Required reading lists for students will also be available at a special ‘Hunger Games’ themed table in the entrance way of the Library. If you stop by the library prior to the 20th, children can register early and get extra tickets for the event and skip the registration line at the event! You can also register in advance by going to http://readsinma.org/shrewsbury (be sure to select the right tab with your age group - remember, ALL AGES can register!).
The past two years have seen over 1,300 residents attend these events, and due to the large crowds, additional parking will be at the Congregational Church across the street from the Library, and a police officer will be on hand to help with the flow. All supplies, food, and prizes are ‘while supplies last’, and while unlikely, events are subject to change. SELCO is also sponsoring some fun prize giveaways. This is truly an event you don’t want to miss….whether you’re 5 or 105!
