Driver Intentionally Crashes Through Front Of Shrewsbury Police Department, Officials Say
Police said the incident appeared to be intentional.
SHREWSBURY, MA — A car drove into the Shrewsbury Police Station on Monday afternoon. The driver of the vehicle is in custody, according to police.
58-year-old Robert McCluskey, the driver of a black 2022 BMW SUV, crashed into the front lobby of the police headquarters at 106 Maple Ave. shortly after 2 p.m., police said. The driver was taken to the hospital with injuries, but no officers, staff or citizens were injured after the incident
Shrewsbury Police Chief Kevin Anderson said the incident appeared to be intentional, but has not yet shared a motive. The driver was known to the Shrewsbury Police Department, but said it hadn't dealt with this person since 2019.

The vehicle crashed into the station at a high rate of speed, and went through two double front doors, the lobby, and a wall. It ultimately stopped at the front of the vehicle at the communications center. Chief Anderson said there were three dispatchers working at the time.
McCluskey is facing a number of charges, including Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle, Malicious Destruction of Property over $1,200, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (three counts) and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. He is expected to be arraigned at Westborough District Court on Wednesday.

The incident remains under investigation.
The Shrewsbury Police Department said that the front lobby of the police headquarters is closed. If someone wishes to file a police report, they are encouraged to contact the business line at (508) 845-1212.
But the Shrewsbury Police Department is still fully operational, including its business and 911 emergency phone lines.
