World Food Movement Boston Serving 1,000+ Free Meals to College Students

Worcester Based Group "World Food Movement Boston" Addresses Food Insecurity with On-Campus Meal Initiative at Middlesex Community College
Lowell, MA — April 21, 2026
An on-campus meal initiative at Middlesex Community College is gaining momentum as it works to address student food insecurity in a practical and dignified way.
Since launching earlier this year, the program has served over 1,000 freshly prepared meals to students across its Lowell and Bedford campuses—highlighting both the scale of need and the strong response from the campus community.
On April 21 11 AM - 1 PM, members of the World Food Movement (WFM) leadership will be present on campus, joining students and staff in serving meals to students.
The program offers nutritious vegetarian meals at no cost, integrated into the daily rhythm of campus life in a way that minimizes stigma and removes common barriers associated with food assistance.
“Access to consistent, nourishing meals can make a meaningful difference in a student’s ability to focus and succeed,” said a program representative.
By emphasizing simplicity, consistency, and accessibility, the initiative is beginning to demonstrate a model that WFM Boston hopes can be replicated and scaled to other campuses facing similar challenges.
College leadership has supported the effort as part of a broader commitment to student well-being and success.
