Dentist Accused of Inappropriately Touching Patient, Charged With Indecent Assault

A Worcester dentist, who lives in Shrewsbury, is facing charges after he allegedly groped a woman, who was a longtime patient.

WORCESTER, MA—A Worcester dentist is facing charges after allegedly inappropriately touching a long-time patient during an appointment, said police.

On Monday, Aug. 1, at approximately 11 a.m., a Worcester police officer responded to a call involving a woman who had been indecently assaulted. The suspect is the victim’s dentist and the incident occurred earlier in the morning at his office.

The 35-year-old female victim told police that while being seen during her morning appointment at 130 Lincoln St., she was inappropriately touched by the dentist, Dr. Nikilkumar Patel, on several occasions.

The victim said that during the appointment, she realized what was taking place and got up from the dentist chair and immediately left the office.

Investigators finished the interview with the victim and went directly to the dentist’s office and met with Dr. Patel. After a brief conversation the dentist was placed under arrest.

Dr. Patel, 54, O’Donnell Avenue, Shrewsbury, was charged with Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person Over the Age of 14. Patel was arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Tuesday.
