SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury police arrested two Worcester men in recent days in separate incidents involving guns — and in both incidents, the men were carrying the weapons in fanny packs, police said.

The first arrest happened near 8 p.m. Saturday along South Street when an officer pulled a driver over after a lanes violation. After finding the driver also didn't have insurance, police had the car towed, and discovered a fanny pack in the car with a handgun inside. The 18-year-old driver was arrested on weapons violations, driving with an open container and moving violations.

The second arrest happened near 3:30 a.m. Monday along Route 9 near the Kenneth Burns Memorial Bridge across Lake Quinsigamond. Police pulled the driver over for an expired inspection sticker, but also found he was driving without a license.
