Why you chose this line of work: “I worked with a friend in high school installing pools for his father’s pool store. I learned the business and enjoyed being outside and seeing how excited children and adults were about their new pools.”
Frederick Abasciano has run for the past 20 years in Shrewsbury. His company installs above-ground pools, above-ground and in-ground pool liners, opens, closes and winterizes pools, and installs safety covers, stone jobs around the pool, slides, diving boards, and pool decks.
He services towns within a 50-mile radius and employs two additional full-time employees as well as various subcontractors that he has worked with for many years. One of those employees is his sister.
Abasciano got his degree from Nichols College and majored in marketing. He's licensed as a construction supervisor and home improvement contractor.
Abasciano noted it’s very important to make sure that when someone installs a pool, they are licensed. There are many instances when clients call Piece of the Beach because work done on their pools needs to be corrected.
Many towns are now insisting on retractable ladders for above the ground pools. This helps to ensure the safety of those around the property.
In addition, when a new in-ground liner is changed, it will be outfitted with one that has a smaller grid so it can’t pull hair in. The new regulation stemmed from a tragic incident in which a young girl drowned after her hair was pulled into the drain.
“I love what I do. I get to help families enjoy their much- awaited pool. I love working outside and running my own business,” said Abasciano.
Piece Of The Beach Inc. is located at 420 Boston Tpke., Suite 204.
