National Swim School Officially Open In Shrewsbury

The school offers swimming lessons for kids, toddlers and infants.

SHREWSBURY, MA — A national swim school chain has officially opened in Shrewsbury.

Big Blue Swim School opened its fourth Massachusetts location at 100 Boston Tpke on Friday, the Corridor 9/495 Regional Chamber of Commerce announced on Monday. The school offers swimming lessons for kids, toddlers and infants.

The business debuted its Shrewsbury location with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by a free family event.

Big Blue Swim School will offer weekly lessons for children ages 3 months and older, seven days a week. Classes will run from 30 to 45 minutes and will be organized by skill level.

The facility includes a pool heated to 90 degrees, a viewing area, private changing rooms, free Wi-Fi and parking. Families can use the company’s mobile app to schedule lessons and monitor swimmers’ progress.

Big Blue Swim School was founded in 2009 by competitive swimmer Chris DeJong and operates more than 60 locations nationwide, the company says.

The new Shrewsbury location joins three others in the Bay State, including Dartmouth, Framingham and Methuen.
