Pedestrian Struck and Killed by Tractor-Trailer on I-290

A tractor-trailer, driven by a Worcester man, struck and killed a man on I-290 in Shrewsbury on Tuesday.

SHREWSBURY, MA—A man was struck and killed Tuesday morning while walking on Route 290 in Shrewsbury. At about 9 a.m., the pedestrian was struck between Exits 23 and 22, said Massachusetts State Police, and pronounced dead at the scene.

The operator of the tractor trailer, a 50-year-old man from Worcester, remained at the scene.

This crash remains under investigation by members of Troop C with assistance from the State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section. No charges have been filed at this time. State Police were assisted on scene by Shrewsbury Fire and EMS, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and MassDOT.

The right travel lane was reopened at approximately noon.

The identity of the pedestrian is being withheld pending family notification.
