SHREWSBURY, MA β€” Shrewsbury was informed on Wednesday that several cases of the new coronavirus from the three-day weekend went unreported due to an error in the Massachusetts Virtual Epidemiologic Network, the statewide system that counts and reports confirmed cases. The system missed 25 cases from the weekend and 12 cases from Tuesday, bringing the total in Shrewsbury to 143 confirmed cases.

The news of the system error comes after Shrewsbury announced it had "no new cases positive cases of COVID-19" since April 17.

Shrewsbury was notified by MAVEN, the counting system, that "Due to the volume of confirmed and contact COVID-19 event," some cases were getting lost in the system and seem to "disappear."
