Shrewsbury To Kick Off 300th Anniversary Celebration

Shrewsbury will begin a yearlong celebration of its tricentennial in December.

SHREWSBURY, MA — Next year, Shrewsbury is celebrating a major milestone.

Shrewsbury will begin a yearlong celebration of its 300th anniversary in December, the Shrewsbury 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee announced on Friday. The free community kick-off event will include entertainment, appetizers and a cash bar.

It will take place on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Scandinavian Athletic Club, 438 Lake St.

Admission is free, but tickets are required because space is limited. If you plan to attend, you must register online by Monday, Nov. 30.

Shrewsbury resident and radio personality Ramiro Torres will serve as emcee. Local officials and community organizations will also preview events planned for the anniversary year, the committee said.

Shrewsbury was incorporated on Dec. 15, 1727, according to the town’s historical records. The town will mark its tricentennial on Dec. 15, 2027.

The municipal 300th Anniversary Celebration Committee is responsible for planning and coordinating townwide anniversary activities.

Major sponsors of the kickoff include Shrewsbury Federal Credit Union, Central One Federal Credit Union, Shrewsbury Electric Light & Cable Operations, state Rep. Hannah Kane, Cornerstone Bank, Image Production Services and Beacon Bank.
