SHREWSBURY, MA — Shrewsbury was granted funding to help encourage safety on its roads.

The Shrewsbury Police Department has been awarded $35,036.26 from the Municipal Road Safety Grant Program, State. Rep Hannah Kane (R-11th Worcester) announced on Friday. The program from the Executive Office of Public Safety & Security provides funding to municipal police departments for traffic safety enforcement, equipment and traffic safety programs.

The award is part of the federal fiscal year 2027 grant cycle, which runs from November 2026 through September 2027. The program is administered by the state Office of Grants and Research using National Highway Traffic Safety Administration funding.

“This program helps local police departments improve traffic safety, keeping residents safe and reducing the risk of accidents,” Rep. Kane wrote in the announcement. “Thank you to our selfless public safety professionals in Shrewsbury and Westborough!”
