Shrewsbury Student Wins Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay Contest

Saint Mary School of Shrewsbury congratulates Frances Fernandez for her winning essay in the 2017 Essay Contest.

From Saint Mary School: Saint Mary School, Shrewsbury is pleased to congratulate Grade 8 student, Frances Fernandez for her winning essay for the 2017 Essay Contest Honoring the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Frances, her parents, Olga Ramirez and Jorge Fernandez and Grade 8 Teacher, Mary Seraichick were honored at the 32nd Annual Worcester County Community Breakfast at Quinsigamond Community College.

In Frances’s words “He showed everyone how to stand up and fight for his or her own rights without using violence. Some of the rights that Reverend King stood up for were equality, freedom and the rights to be protected by the government. He also fought for justice in all communities. Like Reverend King, I aspire to stand up for the rights I believe in.”
