The Shrewsbury boys won their group in round robin play and advanced to the final four “knockout round.” They won an exciting semi-final game against a very good team from Wellesley with penalty kicks after playing to a regulation and double-overtime tie.

In the state final game the team lost for the first time this season 2-1 to Dartmouth despite constant pressure on the Dartmouth goal in the final 30 minutes.

The team advanced to the state championship after being one of only a handful of teams in Shrewsbury to win the Midland Area Youth Soccer (MAYS) championship game.

The team finished its successful season with a record of 10-1-2 and is ranked second in the state.

Players on the team are: Matt Curtis, Martin Davis, Chris DeWolfe, John Fay, Mike Filiere, Conner Giedymin, Jason Haji, Matt Mulcahy, Kevin Murphy, Kyle Orciuch, Joe Rezuke, Kyle Simmons and Tim Smith.

Shrewsbury Patch would like to congratulate the U12 soccer team for an awesome season.
