Elsie Kaye Artisan Gifts & Flamework Studio

Elsie Kaye Gift Shop &amp; Artisan Studio In 2009, on a whim, Holly Kenny took a flameworking class and learned to make glass beads. This sparked a love of glass art and led to the launch her business, Elsie Kaye Gift Shop and Art Studio in downtown Westborough. Holly currently teaches flameworking and metalworking at her studio and is on the faculty at the New England Craft Program in Williamsburg, MA. Holly loves the fluidity and movement of glass and enjoys incorporating metals, enamels and other elements that can change the texture and appearance of the glass. As a result, much of her work takes on an abstract, organic feel. Her work, under the name Elsie Kaye Glassworks, can be found at more than 50 boutiques and galleries across the country. Holly is passionate about promoting emerging local artists by selling their work at her retail shop, as well as helping to foster connections with new and existing businesses in the local area. She is an active member of her community, where she has lived with her husband and two children since 2006.

Madeline Dolan, a student at Shrewsbury High School, saw a need and decided to respond by helping. Dolan became aware that some high school girls in Central Massachusetts were unable to attend their prom because they couldn't afford it, quite frankly. Donations are needed by early April, when there will be an event called "One Enchanted Evening," where girls can try on shoes, dresses and accessories for their special day. "The goal of the project is to promote self-confidence for high school girls by providing them with free gowns for their high school prom," said the press release. "We hope to continue this project for years to come."
