The Postseason Has Finally Arrived

Shrewsbury and St. John's lacrosse teams begin postseason voyage.

The town of Shrewsbury will be well represented in the upcoming Central Mass. boys’ and girls’ lacrosse tournaments.

On the boys’ side, and have both punched its tickets to the big dance, taking part in the Division 2 Tournament.

The Pioneers earned the third seed with an overall record of 13-5. They beat No. 14 seed Nashoba Valley Tech this week at Pioneer Field. St. John’s will take on the winner of sixth-seeded Nipmuc Regional and No. 11 seed Wachusett Regional in the quarterfinals.  The quarterfinals will be played at a site and location to be determined.

As for the Colonials, who earned the ninth seed with a record of 11-8, they travel to eighth-seeded Nashoba Regional (11-8) on Wednesday afternoon for a 4 p.m battle with the Chieftains. Waiting for the winner on Wednesday’s game is top-seeded Algonquin Regional (16-4) who will host the quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m.

The semifinals and championship game are slated to be played at Foley Stadium in Worcester at a time and date to be announced.

On the girls' side the Colonials locked down the sixth seed and will host the No. 11 seed Bromfield School (10-8) on Wednesday at 3 p.m.  If Shrewsbury can pull out a triumph over the Trojans it will secure a spot in the quarterfinals against host and third-seeded Algonquin Regional (16-4) on Saturday.
